Case Study Overview

My Link, one of a project developed at the Apple Developer Academy, simplifies bus travel for BSD passengers by providing accurate schedules and real-time bus locations through an iOS app. It solves the problem of uncertainty in bus commuting, ensuring people know when the bus will arrive. My Link designed to enhance the commuting experience for BSD Link passengers. This innovative app provides users with real-time information about their current location in relation to the nearest bus stop, as well as access to bus schedules and routes. The side goal of this project is to explore Apple frameworks, offering an intuitive solution to the uncertainty of bus commuting.

Framework Exploration

Goals: Gain in-depth experience and understanding of Apple frameworks through the development of BSD Link.

Objectives: Explore and implement key Apple frameworks such as CoreLocation for real-time tracking, MapKit for route visualization, and User Notifications for timely alerts.

Feature Prioritization Based on User Needs

Goals: Prioritize the development of features based on user needs and preferences

Objectives: Collect and analyze user feedback regarding desired features, prioritize feature development based on user input, and communicate the development roadmap to manage user expectations.

Research Analysis

I conducted an investigation to validate the existing problems with this BSD Link transportation. In this stage, I try to make a few questions that can represent the investment stage.

  1. How many times have you used BSD Link transportations?

  2. Why did you choose to use BSD Link transportation over other transportation?

  3. How do you find out the BSD Link bus schedule and routes?

  4. What difficulties did you experience when looking for BSD Link bus schedules and routes?

I have deduced that most of all passengers use BSD Link transportation to go to work and sightseeing. Some of them initially found it difficult to find schedules and buses with the right route to reach their destination. To get this information they have to ask directly to the bus driver or employees at the bus terminal. With not much time, many of them choose to use other transportation at the end. It makes less effective, therefore, My Link application emerged from the recognition of a prevalent challenge faced by passengers utilizing the BSD Link transportation system in the BSD area.

Conclusion

This project has focused on identified users and user flows. In conclusion, this project demonstrates a holistic approach to designing and developing a South Korean food ordering app. Throughout the project, I learned the paramount importance of placing users at the center of the design process. User surveys and feedback were instrumental in shaping the app's features and usability.


If I had more time, I could have collected survey responses from more target users. Incorporate user feedback mechanisms directly within the app, such as in-app surveys or feedback forms. This will encourage users to provide feedback, making it easier to gather insights for continuous improvement.
